#16 Acceptance

It turns out that the "acceptance cycle" leads to serenity, peace, and wisdom, and that it is not just a one-and-done experience.

This cycle is a continuum, and the universe keeps providing us with opportunities to grow and to heal and to get it right.

The more we accept ourselves for who we are, the easier it becomes to accept others for who they are.

"Most of us suffer because we have something we don't want, or we want something we don't have."

What you'll learn in this episode:

  • When you embrace accepting what is, you realize you have very little control over others

  • The more you practice acceptance, the more you can acknowledge your lack of control

  • When you tap into your power of choice and effort, more patience is available to you

"The more you accept others for who they are, the more you accept yourself for who you are, the easier it becomes to accept others for who they are."

When it all goes down, pausing, breathing and thinking is all we ever have, and asking the questions in those moments of impatience: What do I want to do? How do I want to act? How do I want to feel?

I have taken some time to be a bit sad about missing my first day of vacation with my family. The good news is that I learned a powerful lesson on acceptance and patience, and I didn't take my sadness out on anyone... yet.
